You’re killing me, Smalls
When: Saturday, July 7th, 9 A.M. – 11 A.M.
Where: Defremery Park, Oakland
Why: Relieve The Sandlot IRL. The Oakland A’s are inviting the community to join local parks throughout the summer to play sandlot-style baseball games. The A’s Street Team will be out and about to play pick-up style baseball. Stomper the mascot is hitting the streets too. Rumors of goodie bags have spread. It’s free. Grab your peanuts and go. // 1651 Adeline Street
Play it again, Sam
When: July 5th – 16th
Where: San Francisco Botanical Garden
Why: The only thing better than a summertime walk through the San Francisco Botanical Garden is when a dozen grand pianos drop by to serenade you. Anyone can play, so start practicing your 4th-grade rendition of Chopsticks. If you want to listen to someone who actually knows how to play the piano, local musicians will be scheduled on the weekends to bring their A game to the keys. // Admission is free to SF residents with ID, and $8 to anyone else, 1199 9th Avenue, San Francisco.
Clamshell bras are back
When: July 6th – 8th, 7:30 P.M. and 2 P.M. (Sunday show only)
Where: Davies Symphony Hall
Why: How long has it been since you’ve seen The Little Mermaid? If you’ve forgotten what a dinglehopper is, the answer is too long. And you’re in luck, because the San Francisco Symphony is screening it with a live orchestra, which should kick the sound quality up to eleven. // 201 Van Ness Ave, San Francisco, tickets are available here.
