A Huawei phone has been credited with saving the life of a woman in the UK. Huawei has been under massive political pressure lately due to claims of being a threat to national security. Although, it was the company’s phone that proved to be the only security needed on this occasion.

Due to the ongoing issues between the U.S. government and Huawei, the Chinese company’s phones have lost their appeal for many. Even if a smartphone buyer is happy to purchase a device from a company that’s been accused of serious allegations, they still then run the risk of having a phone that cannot install or run Google apps, and unlikely to receive any updates in the future. Outside of the United States, the issue is less dire with Huawei remaining a popular brand, and even outdoing Apple in terms of worldwide sales.

As The Sun reports, a woman in the UK credits a Huawei phone for saving her life. According to the details, Beth McDermott tripped and fell down the stairs, rendering her unconscious. After three days, McDermott woke up and immediately reached for her phone to call for help, even though she expected the battery to be dead. In spite of the time that had passed, not only did the Huawei phone still have power, but the battery was at 50-percent. Further highlighting the impact the phone had on the situation, McDermott told the UK newspaper “I can’t believe I’m still alive — I wouldn’t be if it weren’t for that phone.”

Huawei Phones Known For Their Batteries

While Huawei phones might be now more commonly known as devices that could be spying or compromising security, one of their main selling features is their batteries. Along with their cameras, Huawei has always packed its smartphones with a substantial mAh capacity, knowing that battery life has become an increasingly important factor for consumers. In this instance, the phone in question was a Huawei Y6 which does only come with a fairly average 3,020 mAh capacity battery. However, this is a phone that also comes with lesser demanding specs in general, as well as a HD+ resolution. As a result, the capacity is actually a lot more effective and efficient than it sounds, with the other features and specs placing less strain on the battery.

Interestingly, McDermott explained that the phone was a very recent buy and was only purchased to replace an iPhone 6 that was suffering from power problems. While the iPhone 6 is an older phone, what makes this point so interesting is that Apple has been recently criticized for intentionally slowing down older iPhone models - including the iPhone 6. In this case, it was fortunate the device owner had opted to replace the slowed iPhone with a newer one, even if it was an infamous Huawei phone.
